What are First Copy Shoes?

What are First Copy Shoes?

I’ve been wondering about a question that my friend asked me last week so I decided to dig more into this. He asked me this question – What are first copy shoes?

First copy shoes are actually the copy of the original shoes. They are sometimes also referred to as true copy or knock offs.

Today we have copies of almost every brand of shoes, clothes, makeup, etc. It is true that first copy shoes are good but not durable as a branded ones. Please don’t think that shoes that are made in China, Vietnam or Indonesia are first copy shoes. Most athletic companies like Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Puma have factories based in these countries to save cost of labor. It doesn’t mean that the products made in these countries are first copy products.

People started making such copies for the people who can’t afford expensive shoes. From our point of view, you should always buy shoes which are comfortable and durable. And the first copy shoes are durable and affordable.

Suppose you are brand conscious but don’t have enough money to buy branded shoes. A branded person needs the brand’s design and can have that design even at a low price. So why waste money on branded shoes if you can have them at a low price!

Difference between the First Copy and Original Shoes

There are many shoe brands and the first copies of these brands if you are looking for shoes. People get confused about the first copy and the original ones. It could cause a problem if you purchase the first copy of the original branded shoe at the original one’s price.

If you go towards the first copy shoe, you just need to know the difference between a first copy and original branded shoes.

  • A first copy shoe has a low quality of fabric that is used in the shoe.
  • The first copy doesn’t have a warranty.
  • All the branded shoes are pricey because of their quality and durability, but a first copy has a low price. Suppose if a shoe by Adidas is of 20000, you can get its first copy only in 2000 Rs.
  • Some manufacturers have shoes that are exact replicas of the original one. It will be difficult for you to decide whether it is original or not. But you can check the quality of its sewing and leather material.

Some manufacturers have replica shoes called 7a quality shoes. However,  there is a difference between the first copy and 7a quality shoes. First copy shoes are OK but not so good in quality, but the 7a quality shoes are a starting form of replicas and better quality than the first copy ones.

Things to Know to Identify First Copy and Original Shoe

There are some tricks to tackle the fake and original ones. It is essential to know because you are at a loss if you buy a low-quality shoe at a branded price.

Check the Manufacturer

If you want to buy the first copy shoe, first confirm the seller is not selling his products at a high price. There are many manufacturers of first copy shoes, but you need to find one who doesn’t sell them at a high price as their quality is not good. Consult your family or friends if they know a good seller.

Check Online Reviews

If you are buying it online, check the reviews about the shoes first. People who bought them before you must have commented about their quality. Reviews on various buying sites are the best way to know a product as they give us the feedback of consumers after their hands-on experience with the product.

Check Quality

Original brands like Nike, Adidas, Hushpuppies, etc., don’t compromise on their product quality. But first copy shoes always have a low material and fabric. As they are cheap, why would they use high-quality material?

Stitching Patterns

You can quickly identify a first-copy shoe by checking its stitching pattern. If the pattern is not in a sequence,  it is the first copy. Original brands never change their stitching pattern. As they never compromise on the quality of their products. They don’t want to break the trust of their customers.

Check the Logo

Original shoes always have a logo on them and inside their sole. No one can copy the logos exactly. In contrast, the first copy shoes don’t have such logos. They have stamps or stickers.

Check the price

The price is the primary key to identify between the original and fake. The original branded shoes are expensive, sometimes out of reach, but if you have a good seller, he will provide you a copy at a low price. The first copy of shoes is always low in price because of the low-quality material used in the shoes.

Warranty

If you want a return policy on shoes, a branded shoe seller will always guarantee you. But a fake seller will never take the guarantee. And they don’t have any warranty time as original shoes have a warranty of 1 to 2 years or more.

SKU Code

Always check the SKU code inside the shoe if there is a stamp; they are not original because original brands use barcoding.

Packaging

The packaging of the shoe shows a clear difference between a branded and standard shoe. The branded shoe has high-quality packing; they have bags to prevent dust and a high-quality box and a bag to carry. But the first copy shoes come with a low-quality box, and the shoe is wrapped in wrapping sheets.

Why Should You Purchase First Copy Shoes?

Nowadays, people can’t manage to eat adequately, so how can they afford original branded shoes. Such people also want to wear nice shoes, but first copy shoes are an excellent choice for those who can’t afford them as they look just like branded ones and are affordable. Now the students who can’t afford expensive shoes can shoe off in college with these first copy shoes.

Are First Copy Shoes Good for the Money?

If you find first copy shoes that are good in quality and are comfortable, why go for branded high-priced shoes. Not all the first copy shoes need to be of bad quality, and the quality is undoubtedly lower than the original one but not too bad that you can’t purchase it. If you get a comfortable first copy shoe at a low price, we would advise you to go for it.

These are good for the middle-class people who can’t afford branded shoes. With these first copies, they can fulfill the desire to wear branded shoes.

Where Should You Purchase a First Copy Shoe?

First copy shoes are very demanding nowadays because of their low price. Some people say that they are not durable, but from my point of view, it is not too bad to buy shoes with brand name at such a low price. And if you use them with some care, they are durable.

There are many online sites where you can buy your first copy shoes easily. You can also buy them directly from the flee markets but remember to check the quality of the shoe before buying. As some copies have very low quality, the first copies usually have a good quality, not like the original but are fine.

Are First Copy Shoes good for Running?

All the runners are conscious about their shoes’ quality because they need to run daily and want to have some durable but affordable shoes. Mostly they go towards branded shoes, but still, they are not satisfied because of their high price.

They want to have good quality shoes at a low price, so they have an excellent opportunity to buy first copy shoes. These shoes are not as durable as original ones but still worth your money as they are durable for their price. If you buy an original one, you can buy only a single pair of shoes, and if you are bored with this, you can’t change it at once as it is pricey. But with the first copies, you can change them after a year. And still, it will not cost you much as its price is lower than half of the original price.

Pros

  • First copy shoes are low in price; you don’t need to spend your money on high-priced, branded shoes.
  • They look exactly as you are wearing a branded shoe.
  • You can buy two to three pairs of shoes at a time.

Cons

  • The material used in these shoes is not durable like branded ones.
  • It can cause pain to your foot as most of them are not comfortable.

Conclusion

The replica of original branded shoes is an excellent opportunity for people who can’t afford expensive shoes. The people who want to have various shoes can buy many shoes at a low price with a branded shoe design.

These shoes are not as durable as the original ones, but you can buy them if you want to change your shoes after a few months. It is worth your money if you have a branded copy with less than half the original ones’ price. The first copies are not long-lasting, but they are also comfortable as the branded ones.

We hope this informative article would help you know everything about the first copy of the shoes. Now you can decide whether you want to buy it or not.

What is Running Cadence?

What is Running Cadence?

You can become an outstanding runner by regular monitoring of your running cadence. But you must be wondering as to what is running cadence. I will give you the dictionary meaning later but let me put it this way that cadence helps to enhance the efficiency of running, decreases the threats of injury, reduces the damage of the muscles while training, and improves the rate of recovery.

Although according to the experts, there is no such thing called ideal or universal cadence for running, there should be a specific rate that every individual should target. I will not recommend you on going after a particular number but keeping a careful eye on the cadence while running includes numerous benefits.

What is Cadence in Running?

What is Cadence in Running?

The above screenshot has been taken from my Forerunner 245 smartwatch that I use on all my runs to improve my running form, speed and endurance.

In running, Cadence is calculated as the total number of steps you take every minute. One of the simplest ways to calculate the cadence while running is to count the total number of times your foot is hitting the ground in one minute.

Among the two factors that determine the speed of a runner, one is running cadence, and another one is stride length.

In simple words, Cadence is calculated as number of steps you take per minute (SPM). There are a lot of things that determine your average cadence which includes your height, weight, fitness level, stride length, and leg length.

The higher the cadence the better it is for a runner and the lower the cadence the more are your chances of injuries.

A lot of runners (including myself) have an average cadence between 150 to 170spm.

The best runners in the world have a higher average cadence as they have a higher running speed than the beginners.

Many experts believe that the cadence of 180SPM (steps per minutes) is the best that a runner can get, but this number may vary for individual runners.

How to determine your Optimal Cadence?

What is Running Cadence?

The cadence of running is determined by the runner’s anatomy, physical fitness and running form. For example, taller runners have natural lower cadences due to longer strides.

Every runner has a different cadence for running. One person might take long strides to run economically, while others may also run economically by taking shorter steps every minute.

The shorter your stride length the better your running cadence will be. Since you are taking shorter strides it means your foot will spend less time in the air which ultimately reduces the chance of any injury. The longer your stride is the more are your chances of being injured and that is why monitoring your cadence is very important for every runner.

How to Monitor your Cadence?

There are a couple of easy techniques to find out your exact cadence. You can use a stopwatch and count each step you have taken in 30 seconds. You just need to double that to get the steps for both legs. Now you just need to double this figure to get the accurate steps per minute (SPM).

OR you could use a smartwatch or an app that will indicate your live record. Many running smartwatches like Garmin Forerunner 245, Apple watch, Suunto 3 and few others have the cadence tracking feature

You can see the screenshot of cadence tracking feature that I use on my Garmin Forerunner 245 Music.

Why it is necessary to monitor your Running Cadence

Now that you’ve understood what is cadence lets understand why it is important to monitor your cadence if you are a regular runner.

To Improve Running form

Variety is the primary key to improvement. It is much important to take the help of an ideal cadence running app OR a running smartwatch that can properly guide you in the training sessions.

Run different sections of a workout at various cadences like low and high. In this way, the body can respond to the diverse stimulus of the exercise. With time, you will notice speed, coordination, and strength while you run.

Risk of Injury

If your ideal running cadence is low, then it means that you are taking longer strides, landing on your heel first, and efficiently braking against the forward motion. To enhance your cadence for running, you have to practice for landing on your feet nearby to the gravity center.

You can improve your cadence while you are running, but for a long term effect, it is compulsory to address the primary cause of the issue. The leg muscle’s increased strength is another way to do this that will have a long-lasting effect on your running.

Spot on Need for Improvement

If you are admiring about how to increase running cadence, then do not overtire yourself. During the long run, if you tire yourself out, then it will affect your running procedure. You will not notice the changes instantly as the body will always try to maintain an equal pace automatically.

Keep a watch on your cadence while you are on your running spree.

Are you starting to feel tired? If yes, then your cadence will begin to reduce. It is a symptom that shows that you will not be able to sustain your current form of running for a long time and you require adding a different variety of training to improve it.

Ways to Increase Your Cadence

According to the expert, the only way to increase your cadence is to minimize the over striding, lessen the impacts on the legs, and proper maintenance of the forward momentum. But the optimal running cadence is dependent on the pace.

Even the Olympians take only a few steps to run at a slow speed every minute. For instance, if you have a cadence of 180 while running a 5K marathon, then it needs a boost to win the race. Below are some of the ways to increase your running cadence.

Take Notes

Always establish a specific baseline for all the training speed. Begin your warm-up at a slower pace and then increase it to one mile every 30 minutes. As you reach the target, give yourself some time to adjust to the set speed, and then begin to count the steps for 60 seconds. After a few minutes, accelerate to the next speed and check if your cadence also increases with your speed.

Set a Specific Target

Now, you must be wondering as to what is a good cadence for running? To each of your recorded numbers, add a total of 5% to make it your goal for next run.

Practice it more

The easiest and simple way to enhance the speed of the step is to run with a Smartwatch. It helps to monitor your running cadence for every mile. To increase the speed for the transition, schedule some workouts like the Fast feet.

If you are finding the new target tough to achieve, then lower it by three percent. Now practice that revise cadence for at least three weeks. After three weeks, if you are not having any difficulty, then target again to increase the speed.

The Best Exercises for a Faster Cadence

Below are a few of the best workouts that can help you to achieve a better running cadence.

Downhill Sprints

In this exercise, you require five accelerating sprints after running. You can practice it down the grade of 150 to 200 meters with the top speed reaching the bottom. You can then walk for 5 minutes for recovery.

How to improve Cadence

Race pacing Tester

Run in the fartleks style for 30 seconds, 1, 2, and 1-minute cycle at the pace of 5K. Jog for one continuous minute in between the reps. Carry out this workout in a set of two. You can count your steps or implement a metronome for every step during the second set.

Fast Feet

In this exercise, implement quick and short strides while taking each step in 10 meters of the run. Try to keep the ground contact as minimal as possible and then jog for 10 meters. Repeat this workout for five times.

What is cadence and how to improve cadence

Additional Tips to Increase Your Cadence

Apart from the above exercises, below are some of the most vital tips for increasing your running cadence. They are as follows.

Run to the beat

One of the most productive ways to improve your running cadence is with the use of an App. You can use an App like Weav Run to improve your running cadence.  In place of counting the steps, you can run to the music’s rhythm where every beat is equal to the step.

Track the Progress in Real-time with an App or Smartwatch

Remember that it is vital not to augment the SPM too much, and an application can assist you in doing that. Here the SPM meaning / SPM cadence means the total number of steps a runner has taken while exercise, jogging, or running.

Concentrate on the smaller steps

Speed in your pace will come naturally to you once you have enhanced your cadence. But for a start, take smaller steps and gradually increase the speed.

Do workouts that are specially designed for Running cadence

Workouts like running in a fixed place and downhill sprints help to train your body for moving faster.

Conclusion

I would suggest that if you are willing to become a better runner, then you need to add numerous varieties to the training and not blindly focus on the change in the cadence for running to meet some unachievable and predetermined goal.

I hope that I have cleared all your doubts about what is running cadence with this article and you’re now ready to become a better runner.

Happy Running!

What to look for when buying a Sports Bra for Running – Buyer’s Guide

Top 10 Sports Bras for Running In India

There are certain factors that you should keep in mind before buying a bra of your preference. An incorrect or misfit bra might have adverse effects on the tissues of your breast. Thus you need to consider the following aspects while selecting the best running bra for you.

Size

There are connective tissues inside the breasts known as the cooper’s ligament that maintain the shape. Due to a lack of elasticity, if the ligaments are damaged or stretched, the shape will not return to its original form.

To keep the minimum impact of the pressure during exercise, the perfect sports bra size is significant. If the bra does not fit, then the breasts will move in any direction, thus stretching the ligaments. So always check the size, especially the under-bust one, to offer perfect support to your chest.

Functionality

It is vital to choose the best running bra that will perform well while doing exercise or sports of your choice. Features like sweat absorption, quick-drying, maintaining the body temperature, cross straps at the back for enhanced support, and more refers to the functionality of the bra. Every product and brand offers various functions, thus ensuring to check each of them.

Impact

A sports bra is divided into three categories of the medium, high, and low-impact bra. High-impact bras are mainly for activities like trekking, rock climbing, biking, mountaineering, etc.

Medium impact ones are ideal for marathons, gym, sports like badminton or tennis. While the low-impact sports bras are perfect for yoga, running, jogging, playing football, or basketball.

Material

Material is another vital factor to consider before buying the best high impact sports bra for running. Mesh fabric allows sweat absorption and breathability.

The material of the innerwear should be durable and well ventilated to avoid any unpleasant experience. Since you have to deal with a lot of sweat and movement while running, the fabric of the bra should be able to handle them single-handedly.

The companies also manufacture the sports bra with polyester and nylon are other materials. There are other materials as well, like suede, elastane, and spandex that can retain your breast shape. However, none of them can compare with the comfort level of the cotton sports bra.

Type

According to the use and construction, there are different bras. The bras that do not include breast cups and compress them with no movement are known as a compression sports bra.

This type of bras is ideal for strenuous activities. Sports bras also come with different straps like racerback, crisscross, and normal straps. In my opinion, the best strap among these is the racerback that restricts the slipping and strain on your shoulder.

Treadmill Buying Guide – What to Look for When Buying a Treadmill for Home Use

How to buy treadmill for home use in India

When it comes to fitness, owning a treadmill can be the best investment because walking is the most natural form of exercise.

A treadmill not only allows for more variation on your workouts but also offers great versatility for anyone from a normal person to an elite athlete.

However, choosing the best treadmill for home use in India plays an imperative role in your fitness regime.

What to look for when buying Motorized Treadmill for home – Buying Guide

Treadmills are expensive machines and we know that buying a treadmill online is a big decision that you have taken. Lets understand what things you should consider when looking for a best treadmill for home use.

1. Workout Space / Size of Treadmill

Determining how much room you can offer a treadmill and where you are going to put it will help you choose an appropriate size. If you have limited space in your home, a foldable treadmill machine is the best option.

The foldable treadmills are easy to store and transport as you can fold the deck upwards after finishing your workout and free up the floor space. Some of the lightweight treadmill machines have transport wheels.

When it comes to foldable treadmills there are two types of foldable treadmills:

a) Treadmills with Manual Folding

These treadmills can be folded manually and can be kept as standing at the corner of the room. Alternatively you can keep these just below your bed if you have that option. Remember you will have to fold these treadmills manually and these treadmills are heavy therefore this is not the best option if you have a history of back problems.

b) Treadmills with Hydraulic Folding

These treadmills can be folded by the use of hydraulic power at the push of a button. You don’t have to use any force to push or pull the treadmill machine and fold them. It is always advisable to buy a treadmill with hydraulic folding even if you have to spend few hundreds extra.

2. Decide on Features You’ll Use

Know which features you will use such as preset workout programs, LCD screen, Bluetooth speakers, USB port, etc and start searching accordingly. Being honest about your needs will help you figure out which machine is right for you.

Treadmills have many features but you need to understand what is most practical for you. The main features include automated incline, workout programs, and accessories such as mats, cleaning materials, & entertainment.

3. Maintenance

It is important to understand the main elements of a treadmill in order to maintain it properly. As you are purchasing it for home use, you might be interested in one that requires no or minimal maintenance.

To be honest, all treadmills require a little bit of maintenance. Aligning the belt, lubricating the treadmill, cleaning various parts including front panel, adjusting the belt and changing the belt are some of the maintenance tasks you need to do on a consistent basis.

Therefore you should look for a treadmill is easy to maintain and have low maintenance costs in future. For example you can look for a treadmill with an auto lubrication feature. This features comes in few treadmills and it makes the maintenance job simple, clean, and easy only with a press of a button. You don’t need to manually lubricate the treadmill as it is done automatically by push of a button.

4. Motor Warranty

A treadmill’s warranty will tell you about its durability and typically it includes four parts: motor, parts, frame, and labor. Labor isn’t included in the budget-friendly models while others generally offer one or two years of free labor.

The main thing to look here is how many years of warranty is given for motor. Few manufacturers will fool you and play with terms like Lifetime Frame Warranty but what you should pay attention to is the Warranty of the Motor.

The motor of a treadmill is more likely to be damaged depending on its usage. A treadmill frame rarely gets damaged and we’ve never heard from an end user that the frame of the treadmill has broken after a long use. It is usually the motor that gets burnt out (sometimes due to overuse) and therefore look for a treadmill with a long motor warranty period.

5. Installation

When you are buying treadmill online the treadmill will be delivered to your doorstep in an unassembled condition. Most of the times you will have to assemble the treadmill. It is not a painful process because companies nowadays provide machines in 80-90% assembled condition. You just have to attach and screw few parts. Helpful DIY installation guides including Youtube videos and paper guides are usually provided by treadmill companies.

Most companies do provide service support and after sales support. However it is always best to buy treadmill online where the company provides free installation at your home.

You can see in the above comparison table that Fitkit provides 100% installation at your home.

6. Set a Budget (Treadmills under 20000, 30000 and 40000 Rs.)

If you have decided how much you want to spare on a treadmill, you can easily narrow down the options. The top-rated machines have impressive performance and cutting-edge technology but they are also expensive. Treadmills are expensive machines and that it is very critical to buy the right treadmill under your budget.

We have few suggestions here:

– Best Treadmill under 20000 Rs.

If you are looking for a best treadmill under 20000 we would suggest you to look at PowerMax Fitness TDM-98. If you are over 75 Kgs and are will be using this machine for running or jogging then you should look at another alternative because the max weight capacity of TDM-98 is 90Kgs.

Incase your weight is more than 75 kgs you can look at Healthgenie 3911 because the max user weight is 100 Kgs therefore a person who is around 80-85 can easily run on this machine.

– Best Treadmill under 30000 Rs.

The MAXPRO PTM405 is probably the best treadmill within the 30000 Rs. budget. It has got all the features that you’re looking for in a good treadmill for your house. With built in speakers, heart rate monitor, hydraulic folding etc. its a value for money product.

– Best Treadmill under 40000 Rs.

We can recommend that the Fitkit FT200 tops the chart for the best treadmill under 40000 rupees budget. Simply because of its features, free-installation given by company, ability to connect with other fitness apps and other premium features. With a price point of approximately 33000 what you are getting is a premium product with extra features and superior customer service.

Should I Buy a Treadmill or Join a Gym?

Home Treadmill vs Gym

Joining a Gym vs buying a Treadmill!

Wondering why buy a treadmill when you can go to a gym? Well! That’s pretty good and at the same time a debatable question.

Though some people love to go to the gym while others continue buying exercising equipment for home use rather than opting a fitness centre membership.

Here we’ve listed some pros and cons to buying a treadmill for your home…

Advantages of buying a treadmill for home use

  • You can save a lot of time as no travel or changing room time is needed.
  • You can work out when you want which means no gym hours restrictions.
  • You can save a good amount of money in the long run with a one-time investment.
  • You don’t have to wait for your turn as you can use the treadmill at your convenience.
  • You are not restricted to use the treadmill and can use it as long as you like.
  • You get to pick the model and features to suit your needs.
  • You can listen to your favourite music or binge your preferred TV shows.
  • You can focus on your workout as there’s no one to bother you.

Disadvantages of buying a treadmill for home use

  • You may need to spend a lot of money to buy a treadmill packed with amazing features.
  • You may miss enjoying the latest equipment as gyms typically update their equipment every few years.
  • You get to use commercial-grade treadmills in a gym which might not be possible in a home.
  • You can enjoy other stress-buster activities in the gym such as pool, sauna, hot tub or steam room.

In a nutshell, it’s wise to invest in a treadmill with useful features, and having one in your home gives you the liberty to work out whenever you want.

Motorized Treadmill vs Automatic Treadmill: Which is Best?

When people get to purchase the best treadmill for home use in India, one of the first questions they ask is “should I go for a motorized treadmill or an automatic one?”

So, what’s the difference between Manual Treadmill and Automatic Treadmill?

  • Motorized and automatic are two terms used for electronic treadmills whereas a manual one is quite different.
  • With a manual or non-motorized treadmill, you push the belt with your feet as the doesn’t get set automatically.
  • With an automatic treadmill, a motor moves the belt and all you have to do is choose your preferred speed and get started.
  • Manual ones tend to be cheaper as you’re not paying for the motor whereas the motorised ones are quite expensive.

Some people believe that manual treadmills help burn more calories as you are the one who supply the power to move the belt. But this is not true unless you are in top athletic shape as you will get tired more easily and put a strain on your joints.

Final Verdict

A treadmill is one of the most popular home exercise equipment as it provides an easy and straightforward workout to develop strength and endurance. For many, it’s a wonderful opportunity to begin a new exercise routine and shift to a healthy lifestyle.

The Bose soundsport is truly the best of the best headphones that you can use for running. Although it is not made for running but it is definitely a must have gadget to have if you are a runner.

The main reason why people buy Bose products is because of its exceptional sound quality. When it comes to sound quality Bose comes in the top 3 in the world.

The best part about these earbuds are they do not fall out while running or even when you are doing weight trainings in your Gym. For a fitness freak like me that’s the main thing I consider while buying a new headphones.

I use them often when I do weight trainings in gym but for running I prefer to use Apple airpods because they are more sleek and lighter.

Mind you with all the greatest features that Bose soundsport has, it will set you back for a whopping 19K rupees. If you are looking for the best over-ear headphones with superb sound quality and are willing to spend this kind of money on headphones then your best bet is Bose Soundsport.

The only downside I see in these headphones is that they are not the best noise cancellation headphones in the market so you would be able to hear cars honking, people talking, girls chit-chatting etc. in the background. For some people this is a blessing and for some people it’s frustrating especially after spending this kind of money.

Therefore if you are looking for a headphone that has good noise cancellation to give you that pure audio nirvana feeling than look at other options in the market. One of the best noise cancellation headphones in India are Sony WF-1000XM3 and they are truly wireless earbuds so you can definitely use them for running or workouts.

Bose gives you 3 different pieces of silicone tips to use with these earphones so that you get a secure fit. But even if you get the best silicone tip in your ear you would still be able to hear some of your surroundings.

Also people who are standing or sitting next to will be able to hear your music sometimes if you play at louder volumes. So these will give you zero noise isolation.

All in All: If you are looking for a premium sound quality headphones and are willing to pay a price then bose soundsport should be your number one choice. Period!

Pros

  • Premium, exceptional and crystal clear sound quality
  • Comfortable, secure fit ensures earphones don’t fall out while running or during your workouts
  • 100% Sweat resistant
  • Long battery life, upto 5 hours of music playback on every charge
  • Ability to answer calls while running or workout out

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Look bulky
  • Not the best noise cancellation headphones

Jabra is an American brand specializing in audio & video equipment. It was acquired by a European company, called GN Audio in the year 2000.

Jabra is well known in the audio and video market and their products include wireless earbuds, noise-cancelling headphones, headsets, video conferencing cameras, fitness-tracking sports headphones and many more…

The Jabra 65T is a great running headphones with all the features that you are looking in a good earphone.

These are sweat proof and water proof therefore you don’t have to worry about rains when you step out wearing these.

I do a lot of deadlifts in gym and have been using the 65T but they’ve never fallen out from my ears. – Amazon Buyer

They also pair well with Siri, Google assistant and Alexa so you can easily make calls while on the run.

Although the music output is really good but you can also adjust the bass, treble and other settings using the EQ manually.

You just need to connect on the Jabra mobile App and you’re good to go.

The best part I liked about Jabra 65T are that they are active noise cancellation earphones which means you will have 100% noise isolation while running. However you do have a hear through setting that allows you to listen to your surroundings.

This is really useful for runners who ideally want to hear what is happening around them plus its a good feature from a safety standpoint as well.

Pros

  • Truly wireless design to ensure headphones don’t fall out while running and working out.
  • Ability to customize sound controls using Jabra Mobile App.
  • Solid battery life of upto 10 hours on every charge
  • Very durable, scratch resistant, sweat and water resistant
  • Value for Money

Cons

  • No buttons on the earpods to answer calls so you will have to press them inside everytime which hurts the ear.
  • Couple of users complained about a weird sound coming while the music was being played.
All in All the Jabra 65T are great running headphones with a fantastic battery life. With a price point of 12K it certainly gives you a good value for your money.

  • Totally wireless high-performance earphones
  • Up to 9 hours of listening time (more than 24 hours with charging case)
  • Adjustable, secure-fit ear hooks for lightweight comfort and stability

The Beats powerbeats Pro is our first over-ear headphone in our list of best wireless headphones for running. Beats is a market leader in audio products especially headphones. Founded by the famous rapper and music producer Dr. Dre, Beats was recently acquired by Apple. So all beats products are now covered under warranty by Apple India.

Speaking of sound quality, the Beats Powerbeats Pro probably would easily beat everyone in the market when it comes to Bass. It has a super high bass output and even better than what you get from Sony and Apple airpods.

The sleek design ensures that the headphones doesn’t fall or pop out of your ears when you are doing high intensity exercises whether its running, skipping, jumping jacks, deadlifts etc.

The battery life is extremely good giving you almost 9 hours of playback time on a single charge.

There is NO noise cancellation but if you turn up the volume then you would get total isolation for sure. Again this might be good for some people who need isolation when working out but for some runners they can turn down the volume so that they can hear the surrounding sounds while on the road. Because it is sometimes kind of risky running on the road especially early mornings not to be run over by a vehicle.

Perhaps the only downside with these is that they are a bit expensive on the pocket. But with that said if you are looking for high-bass output headphones and you can afford these BPB then go for it.

Pros

  • High Bass output to give you a premium experience
  • Over-the-ear feature helps the headphones to be intact while doing high intensity exercises or fast running
  • Fantastic battery life of 9 hours on single charge
  • Sweat proof and splash proof

Cons

  • No Noise cancellation
  • Expensive
Cheaper Alternative: Powerbeats 3 Wireless

4. Apple Airpods 2

Apple AirPods with Charging Case
  • Automatically on, automatically connected
  • Easy setup for all your Apple devices
  • Quick access to Siri by saying “Hey Siri”

Our number four on the list are again an in-ear headphones from Apple but these are suitable only for iphone users so if you are an Android user you can skip to the next one on our list.

I’ve been using Apple Airpods (2nd Generation) since last 5-6 months on most of my runs and had a pretty good experience. I do switch between bose soundsports and Airpods from time to time. The are certainly lightweight, have a good battery life and comfortable for your ears.

My initial thoughts when I saw Airpods was that they might fall out of ears when running. But they have been doing pretty good on all my runs and do not fall out. But when I am doing push ups, skipping or speed drills than they do fall out of my ears. I probably keep them in my pockets when I am doing sprinting or when I am doing interval running sessions.

Therefore if you are a sprinter or you do more of sprinting, skipping or other HIIT exercises then they may not be the best headphones for doing high intensity exercises. At the same time if you are a slow runner or if you run at the same speed throughout your runs then these will be perfectly fine for you.

While most other headphones on this list are a bit heavy / bulky the Apple Airpods gives you a sleek and lighter experience while on the runs.

You get premium sound quality as with any other apple product, full warranty and it pairs within 3 seconds to your iphone. In fact the Apple airpods automatically turn on the moment you plug them in your ears. When you remove them the airpods turn off automatically and the audio / video stops.

Pros

  • Lightweight, comfortable and ideal for slow jogging, tempo running.
  • High quality sound quality, probably better than Apple wired earphones
  • Pairs quickly, automatically with iPhone.
  • Turns off automatically when you pull them out of ears.

Cons

  • Not ideal for HIIT, fast running / sprinting / interval running sessions
  • Not for Android users
All in All: With a price point of around 15K, the 2nd generation airpods certainly are a good value for money for iPhone users. If you are into interval running, HIITs, skipping, calisthenics or other high intensity workouts than you should look at other options on this list.

5. AUKEY Key Series T10 True Wireless Earbuds – Best Wireless Earbuds under 10K

No products found.

The Aukey T10 was launched in India last year and exclusively available on Amazon. These headphones have received tremendous appreciation from fitness freaks and sound lovers. With a rating of 4 out of and 700+ reviews on Amazon, these headphones deserves to be included in the list of best headphones for running in India.

Unlike other cheap looking wireless headphones the Aukey T10 look sleek and comes in matt black look.

They come with noise isolation and include 3 different sizes of ear-tips and in-ear ear-hooks for a reliable, customized fit.

The charger comes with dual charging options: one that you can connect to a USB and the second one with a wireless charging surface. You just need to place the earbuds in the charging case and place that on the surface to charge. The charging case has built-in magnets that will help to hold the earbuds in the case.

The sound quality of these earbuds are really very good but they cannot be compared to the sound quality of Apple Airpods or Beats Powerbeats Pro.

The company claims the battery life to give you 6 hours of playback time on every charge however users mentioned that the best they can get is around 6 hours of battery life. In my opinion a 6-hour battery life in one charge is pretty good considering the price you’re paying for these.

Another good thing about these is that the calls will be played back on both earbuds, unlike some other products in the market where the calls are played back only in 1 earbud, including the Bose soundsport.

You can actually check if the Aukey product you received is original or not by entering the 20-digit unique number that can be found on the package box. It comes with 18-month warranty.

Pros

  • Great sound quality
  • Superb design, stylish matt look and fitting for all ear sizes
  • Value for money (best

Cons

  • Charging case is bulky and not easy carrying in pocket
  • Touch controls need to be improved.
All in all: The Aukey T10 is a wonderful gadget for runners and fitness freaks who are not looking to spend a huge amount of money on headphones but still want a decent headphones that are durable, long lasting, with good battery life, ease of use and sound quality. The Aukey T10 checks all of these boxes.

The only downside in these earphones is that the microphone picks up sound from your surrounding while you are taking a call. So the person on the other end will have a lot of difficulty if you are in a noisy place like a metro, bus or other crowded places.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Ear-hook design ensures headphones don’t fall out while running or other physical exercises

Never heard about this company called HIFIMAN? Me too…

But the HIFIMAN TWS600 turned out to be a hidden gem.

After doing research on this company we came to know that this company is headquartered out of New york, USA. According to Hifiman’s website the company started operations in 2007. However their manufacturing facilities are based in southeast Asia. They do have a lot of distributors in USA as well as a number of dealers in Southeast Asian countries.

These were launched last year in India and have been selling on Amazon India from September 2019. As of now there are only 9 reviews of this product on Amazon with a rating of 4.2. This might change when you are reading this article.

This product deserves to be in the list of best running headphones in India. Why?

Because of its overall quality, technology used, sound quality, secure fit, playback time and charging time.

The company claims that it has 38.5 hours of playback time and requires only 1 hour to charge it to 100 percent. When we did a little bit of digging we found that most users actually appreciated the long battery life of HIFIMAN TWS600.

It fits just perfect in your ears and you don’t have to worry about it when running or exercising in gym. The battery life is close to 5hrs and yes of course with the case you can fill charge it for another 33 hours which for me is a great deal – Amazon Buyer

Another Amazon buyer wrote this:

The battery life is incredible. The carrying case being its power bank basically gives you almost 40 hours of playtime, which, if you are like me use these 2-3 hours a day, will last you for about two weeks. – Amazon Buyer

To make it short and easy, the HIFIMAN TWS600 comes with an exceptional crystal clear sound quality, secure fit, long battery life, great design.

All in All: The HIFIMAN 600 are like underdogs in this list of wireless running headphones. But they are one of the best headphones that you can use for running or vigorous workouts. With a price point of 7500 rupees that are certainly a good value for your money. P.S: When we compared the price of the same headphones between Flipkart and Amazon we noticed that Amazon’s selling price is 500 rupees less than Flipkart.

If not then don’t worry because even I had never heard about this technology. However after doing an in-depth research I came to know that it is certainly a very useful technology for few people with hearing deficiencies.

People with hearing issues may benefit from the bone conduction headphones because the technology doesn’t rely solely on the eardrum. We don’t want to get too technical about bone conduction but if you really want to understand more about bone conduction than you may check this article.

In short these headphones are made or useful for people who don’t want any isolation while hearing the music. It means you would still be able to hear your surroundings while listening and enjoying the music.

Last update on 2021-08-01 at 00:59 / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

The Tagg Inferno are the cheapest wireless headphones in our list. Although they are cheap mind you they are by no means a bad choice to buy for your runs, especially if you are a beginner.

Tagg is a 100% Indian company but we are not sure if these headphones are manufactured in India or China.

You cannot compare the sound quality of Tagg Inferno with the likes of Bose soundsport, Apple Airpods and some other brands on our list of best headphones for running. Because there is a huge difference in the price range of these headphones and other ones on our list. These are probably the best cheap Wireless headphones in India.

Mind you even if they are cheap but they don't look like cheap material. The headphones do give an appealing look and the design ensures a snug fit to your ears when you are working out or running.

Best Wireless Headphones for Running

One of the downside in TAGG Inferno is that they cannot be used for longer durations because of the design. Most users commented that their ears started hurting when they used them for longer durations.

Don't expect noise cancellation / noise isolation from a product at a price point of 2000 rupees. A lot of users who used these for calling mentioned that the person on the other end gets a lot of disturbance and surrounding noises while talking. Therefore it is best advised to use these headphones only in a quiet place.

Audio: I bought it for mainly gym. Imagine my shock when I noticed that the bass was absolutely nil and 0 noise cancellation. My gym speakers were at mid level sound and these earphones did nothing. Nada. Poor sound quality. I wore it for 3-4 days, with 2-3 hours max at a time. Suffice it to say that ears hurt and these are not for long term use. – Amazon Buyer

For some people this actually beats the idea of buying a headphone altogether if they are getting a headphone which picks up surrounding sounds while talking to someone.

Pros

  • Cheap and Affordable
  • Decent for beginner runners or people who just started working out
  • Good battery life of 6-7 hours on a single charge

Cons

  • Decent sound quality but very little bass output
  • 2-3 second lag when playing Youtube or playing games
  • No advised to wear for longer durations to avoid ear pain
  • Disturbance in connectivity/sound during phone calls

What to look for when buying wireless headphones for Running - Buying Guide

best headphones in India for Runners

Headphones should not fall out while running

One of the challenges of wearing an earphones while running is that the earphones should not pop out of the ears while running.

This happens in cases where you are wearing a half-wireless headphone like the bose soundsport. Ofcourse this would not happen if you are wearing actual headphones (those bulky over the hear headphones) or you are wearing those in-ear headphones like the Jabra Elite 6T.

Trust me if you get this one right then your probability of choosing the best headphones for running will be quite high. Therefore don't make a mistake on this one. Look at buying only those headphones / earphones which doesn't fall out while running or working out in the gym.

Sweat / Water Resistant

This one is for people like me who sweat a lot especially when I do sprint training.

I love doing sprint training because of two main reasons - it shoots up my metabolism rate for the rest of the day and secondly it gets the work done in a much lesser time.

A 20-minute sprint training session is equivalent to a 10K jogging or running session.

Therefore if you are one of those people who sweat a lot then it makes sense for you to buy only those headphones that are sweat resistant. So pay more attention to the sweat resistant feature when buying a new headphones for workout or running.

Battery Life

How frustrating it would be to wake up early morning for your runs, only to notice that the battery of your headphones are about to die.

Having a good battery life is a prerequisite for most of the gadgets these days, be it a mobile phone, a laptop, an ipod or any other gadget. The same thing goes for wireless headphones...

When you are using wireless headphones it will consume not only the battery of these headphones but it will also drain your phone's battery. A good pair of headphones are ones which have a music playback time of atleast 5 hours. A 5-hour playback time is considered to be good enough if you are going to use the headphones regularly on a daily or alternate day basis.

If you are looking for wireless headphones for travelling purpose than you need a headphone that has a better playback time than five hrs.

Also make sure that the charging time of these headphones is less than 2 hours. You would not want to keep charging your headphones on charging throughout the day.

Sound Quality

Perhaps the sound quality should be the number one factor that you should consider while buying headphones for running. But the above three factors are much more important than sound quality.

This is because sound quality only matters when you actually have nice earphones which does not fall during running, have a good battery and are sweat resistant.

If I see the above three parameters are met then I would look into the sound quality of these headphones.

But how would you judge the sound quality of a product which is already packaged in the stores.

Also if you are buying online you would not be able to judge the sound quality of these headphones.

Call Answering / Rejecting

Call answering feature is also an important factor to consider while buying headphones for running. Especially for runners who run in the evenings.

They often get calls from their family and friends during their runs. A good headphone should have the feature to answer / reject the call with a tap of finger and you get this feature in Apple Airpods.

Price

Price is the first thing that comes to our mind while doing online shopping. But I don't mind paying an extra premium for the products that are of superior quality and durability and have a long life.

That is why I pick up Apple AirPods when I am running or travelling. They really tick all the boxes that I've mentioned above except the price.

Yes they are a priced a bit higher as compared to other headphones in the market yet they are the best when it comes to quality, comfort, battery life, ease of carrying and they don't fall when while you are running.

Do you do warm up exercises before running, do you have a specific pre-race warm up or ritual. Or do you just get going and count the first 10 minutes running as your warm up.

Regardless of what method you use, we’ve come to realise that warming up before running is a vital part of every athlete’s routine.

But do you know why? And for that matter are you doing it correctly?

That’s why we’ve decided to simplify all the complexities and help all runners by covering these topics:

  • What is a warm up?
  • How to warm up before running a 5K race
  • How to do a simple 10 minute warm up for running
  • And should you do a cool down

What is a Warm Up?

I want you to imagine that your body is like a car, and you’ve been parked outside in the cold for hours. Do you think you could turn on the ignition and go from 0-60mph in 4 seconds?

You could try, but I am sure a car mechanic would tell you that you’re about to do some damage to your vehicle.

And that is exactly how our bodies work. If you don’t prepare your body for the stresses of physical activity it will most certainly lead to a breakdown. I.e. Injuries.

Warming up is any activity that serves as the physical and or mental preparation before exercise or a sporting event. It’s a crucial part of your exercise routine as it prepares your body to manage the stresses of prolonged physical activity, such as running 5km.

Note: Warm ups are meant to prepare not exhaust or fatigue your body. So pay careful attention to factors such as your heart rate and breathing efficiency during your warm up. Similarly, an effective warm up can be as short as 3 minutes and as long as 12, depending on the activity. Anything longer or shorter in duration can hamper your performance as you will not be fully prepared or you will find yourself pre-exhausted.

How to warm up before running a 5K race

How to warm up before running a 5K

Let’s get into some specifics about what you need to do for warming up before your run. And how you should be going about it.

When it comes to a warm up there are two main objectives that we want to achieve:

1. Increasing your overall body temperature

The reason we need to increase our overall body temperature is actually pretty simple:
To pump more oxygen rich blood to your extremities.

By doing a series of light to moderate intensity physical movements, you will raise your heart rate. And an elevated heart rate means more oxygenated blood being pumped through your body.

Which leads into next point…

2. Activating your muscles and joints

By pumping more oxygen rich blood to your body’s extremities, you will be helping your muscles and joints get activated. This will essentially get your body physically prepared for the activity you’re about to participate in, as activated muscles and joints lead to better performances.

But here is the thing, how many times have you stood at the finish line, 5 mins before your run starts. You turn to your left and you see the person next to you busy stretching.

So you instinctively start doing one or two stretches. STOP!

No seriously, you need to stop stretching before you run. You see, despite popular opinions stretching before a run is not beneficial.

Research is continually providing us with significant evidence that stretching before physical activity has little to no benefits. In fact, research suggests that it actually hampers performance.

Yes, that’s correct stretching as a warm up before running a 5km is bad for you. Who would’ve thought!

So if you’re not supposed to stretch before running, what are we supposed to be doing?

Well, you should stretch. I know, I know, we just said not to stretch. But there is an explanation.

We’re not talking about conventional static stretching as you know it. We’re talking about dynamic stretching.

In layman’s terms, dynamic stretching involves actual movement of the body, while conventional stretching is usually more static.

And the more you move the better you will ultimately perform.

So by utilising dynamic stretching as part of your 10 minutes warming up or your specific pre race warm up, you’re putting yourself in the best position to dominate your next run.

How to do an easy and effective 10 minute warm up before a run

How to do a 10 minute warm up before race

When it comes to having a specific pre-race warm up there is a basic checklist of things you need to cover, all in just 10 minutes.

This includes activating your:

  • Deep foot and calf muscles
  • Hamstrings
  • Quadriceps
  • Glutes
  • Core and lower back

And you will need to mobilise your:

  • Ankle joints
  • Knees
  • Hips (adductors and abductors)
  • Lumbar and thoracic spine

Wait, what?

All of that in just 10 minutes? Yep and this is how it’s going to go down.

This is our in house sport scientists’ warm up routine and we are going to explain it to you in his words.

When it comes to warming up I use the same sequence of exercises for myself and my athletes. It’s actually quite simple, perform each movement for 20 seconds and rest for 20 second, for a total of 3 rounds

Here are the list of exercises:

  • 5m toe walks-heel walks (Arms raised directly above your head)
  • Walking lunges with torso twists
  • Walking Supermans
  • Frog squats
  • Hamstring walks/squats

5 exercises done for 20 seconds on and 20s off for a total of 3 rounds will tally up to a final time stamp of 9 minutes and 40 seconds (there is an extra 20 seconds in there for you to catch your breath).

These exercises are the ideal combination of movements that both activate and mobilise all the muscles and joints you will be using during your run.

Should you do a cool down?

Should you cool down after running a 5K

Okay, so we’ve covered the warm up exercises before running.

What about after your run?

If there is a specific pre-race warm up surely there should be a set of cool down exercises.

Well, not necessarily, because everyone ultimately has their own specific preference of how they cool down after a race. Some people do cryotherapy or self myofascial release (foam rolling).

While some people do compression machines or lower body massage and some of you would just love an ice cold drink at the finish line.

Scientific research indicates that the easiest and most cost effective method to cool down is static stretching. As we mentioned earlier dynamic stretches are better before your run, but static stretches are a perfect way to cool down after your race.

They are easy to do, they can be performed almost anywhere and they don’t cost you a cent. They might taste as nice as a cold brew but they get the job done.

Summary

When it’s all said and done, how you warm up and cool down is completely down to your own personal preference. Whether you do a 10 minute running warm up or just start running after the gun sounds off.

How and what you do is completely up to you.

However, we do advise you incorporate both a warm up and cool down into your pre and post race routine. Having a specific pre-race warm up will also aid in your mental preparation before your event, increasing your odds of performing well.

Similarly having a thorough post run cool down protocol can significantly aid in injury prevention which will be ensuring the longevity of your running career.

But at the end of the day it’s actually very simple, when it comes to the ideal warm up before running a 5km…

Just move a little before to get the heart rate up and stretch a little after to get the muscles to relax. Do that and everything will be ay-okay!

The 5 Best Asics Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis

Best Asics Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis

In this post we are going to cover the topic of plantar fasciitis and which Asics shoes are best suitable for plantar fasciitis.

I am a big fan of Asics and have been testing various Asics shoes during the last few years and that is the main reason why I recommend this brand.

Have you ever had any foot discomfort while or after running?

Never knew the cause, treatment, or reason for this discomfort.

In this post we are going to cover some of the most common injuries and discomforts that most runners face, especially beginners. We will also cover what shoes might be the best option for you to avoid common injuries like plantar fasciitis.

What is Plantar fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a repetitive strain injury to the ligament (plantar fascia) of the sole of the foot, which is most commonly caused by excessive running, walking, wearing inadequate footwear and jumping or landing injuries.

Plantar fascia
Source: Wikipedia

What are the symptoms for Plantar Fasciitis?

  • Stabbing pain with your first steps in the morning. The pain normally decreases as you keep moving but might return after a long period of standing.
  • Plantar fasciitis is more common in runners who are overweight.
  • And most common in runners who wear shoes with inadequate support.

Main causes for Plantar Fasciitis:

  • If the arch of your foot does not receive enough support, and absorbs all the shock as you walk, the tension in your arch becomes too great. Small tears can occur in the fascia.
  • Repeated stretching and tearing of the fascia can irritate or inflame it.
  • Overuse of the plantar fascia muscle by excessive physical activity such as running, skipping, HIIT etc.

Best recommended shoes for Plantar Fasciitis

We all know ASICS is a major shoe brand in all sport areas.

Do you know why ASICS is SUCH massive market leader in the running and long-distance running community?

Because they prioritize support and stability to the runner and because they cater for different foot strikes and foot shapes.

Yes, you heard correctly…

You cannot just walk into a store and buy the newest shiniest pretty ASICS shoe without knowing its functionality.

Now how on earth do you know which one to buy? Your foot type? Your foot strike? Or if you need neutral or stability shoes?

Most commonly you would go for a foot scan at a running store and they will be able to tell you, but even those aren’t very accurate, because your foot strike is significantly different after 1 min on a shop treadmill and 5km on the road.

Let’s be honest, most injuries happen after repetitive movement and when you’ve reached a certain point of fatigue. If that is after 1km, 5km, 10km, or 30km. That is when your feet really need to be tested.

But here are some basic pointers mentioned on the Asics website to determine your pronation type (landing type).

“Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing.

Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe.” – Asics Website

We also covered the topic of how to identify proper running shoes on Runaddiction.

Complexities of various types of Runners and what they should look out for:

Neutral Runners

  • Your foot contacts the ground by landing on the outside of the heel and rolls inward (pronates) to absorb the shock of your body weight.
  • You push off from the front of your foot.
  • Considered injuries: Less likely due to correct shock absorption.

Overpronators

  • You connect to the ground by landing on the outside of your foot and then rolls inwards excessively, transferring weight to the inner edge instead of the ball of the foot.
  • You push off your big toe and your second toe does most of the work.
  • Considered injuries: Shin splint, plantar fasciitis, bunions and heel spurs.

Three things to look for when buying best running shoes for plantar fasciitis

1. Maximum Arch support

The most vital element for any person suffering from plantar fasciitis is that they need to buy shoes with appropriate arch support. This does not have to be the most expensive model of shoe, but without the arch support your injury will not improve. Look out for a shoe with a good arch support.

2. Better shock absorption

Absorbing shock and impact are the most important part of a running shoe, right?

That will be the reason you put them on in the first place, otherwise you could have head out barefoot. So please, if you get a horrible uncoordinated slum and not a spring to your step, look further.

A reliable pair of running shoes for plantar fasciitis should offer superior shock absorption that will take on all the force when your foot strikes the ground.

This ensures your feet do not suffer the full brunt of the ordeal but makes you excel up and forward launching you into your next step.

3. Firm midsole, robust heel counters and flexible toe box

The goal of getting a better shoe for your fasciitis is to relieve pain in your feet while training, but also to strengthen then as you develop natural arches.

A flexible toe box but robust heel counter ensures that. A shoe that bends nicely but is still supportive at the rear will ensure your arch is always maintained at a proper angle to avoid overworking.

Conclusions and Recommendations

So, there you have it, you can now analyse your symptoms for plantar fasciitis, self-diagnose and treat your injury and figure out if you are a neutral and pronating runner.

But with ALL this information, you still want to be making the best decision when purchasing your next running shoe.

So which ASICS shoe will offer you relief from Plantar Fasciitis and also avoid injury in the future? We have recommended these Asics shoes for all arch types – low / flat arch, normal arch or high arch.

The Gel Kayano has long been the fan favourite for the best fitting and most comfortable every day running shoe for overpronators and runners with low to flat arches.

This shoe has a padded interior, a sculpted footbed and it fits best for people with narrow to medium width feet. The forefoot of Gel Kayano is responsive, agile, and flexible.

Pros:

  • Energized cushioning, advanced shock absorption and superior stability.
  • One of the best stability shoes for Plantar Fasciitis

Cons:

  • If this is your first time switching over to a stability shoe and you having been running in the ‘wrong’ or old worn in shoes for a while the support might feel a bit strange in the beginning.
  • Slightly heavier and expensive than many shoes. But it is a small price to pay if you need a stability shoe to protect yourself from getting a plantar fasciitis.

  • FLYTEFOAM MIDSOLE TECHNOLOGY -Our FlyteFoam technology provides exceptional bounce back and responsiveness no matter the distance, utilizing organic super fibers to help reduce packing out that traditionally happens with softer, low density foams.
  • TRUSSTIC SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY -Reduces the weight of the sole unit while retaining the structural integrity of the shoe.

The original stability shoe from ASICS, this is a comfortable stability shoe that offers the ideal blend of cushioning and support.

The GT 2000 8 features a two-layer mesh upper that is designed to tighten and loosen as the foot flexes and moves, to maximise elasticity and support based on the shape and movement patterns of the runner’s foot. They have been known for being very reliable and durable.

Pros

  • GT 2000 8 is made with a more mild and mid-level pronation support but still offers a good structured build that stops the foot collapse from happening causing all the above-mentioned symptoms.
  • Good as a stepping stone between a neutral shoe and a stability shoe as the build in is not as high as the Kayano.

Cons

  • The GT 2000 8 is your average and more affordable stability shoe. Like a luxury sedan, and not a sports car.

Now for the NEUTRAL RUNNER, you do not have all the above-mentioned symptoms or injuries yet, your foot strike is neutral, but you still have slight plantar fascia discomfort. You need more support.

Here are the top 3 supportive ASICS market leading shoes:

If you are an ASICS fan, you are probably familiar with the NIMBUS line. It’s known for being soft cushions and your first choice when it comes to choosing a long-distance running shoe.

The Nimbus 21 has flytefoam down the length of the midsole which adds to the responsiveness and flexibility.

Pros

  • Highest shock absorption, bigger fore foot box, with high impact shock absorption in heel and forefoot.
  • Chicago runner and RoadRunnerSports tester, Mike Ko, noted that the “shock absorption in the heel was definitely noticeable and the soft insole in the midfoot made for an almost squishy sensation as I was running.” He felt this made it a great potential shoe for longer weekend runs or for people hoping to tack on more miles.

Cons

  • The heaviest and chunkiest shoe on the list, definitely not for a fast or short distance race. The weight for the gel nimbus 21 is 312g for the men’s shoe and 255g for the women’s shoe.
  • The cost of this shoe is also more on the high-end side.

ASICS made these with a 10mm heel drop, and the total weight of the men’s shoe is 297,67g. Which would be your average weight of a running shoe.

Pros

  • Premium shock absorption, the gel cumulus provides more stability around your ankle than the average running shoe.
  • The extra foam provides a softer, more cushioned wrap around the ankle.

Cons

  • Also, not your fastest shoe, not suitable for speed workouts or fast intervals on the track.
  • They also seem to have a stiffness to them that some people, like midfoot or forefoot strikers do not enjoy. They are more suitable for heel strikers.

5. ASICS Dynaflyte 3

Has a casual design, cheaper and lighter than the other ASICS models, and a more comfortable heel and a 8mm drop. They weigh 257g (Men’s) and 215 (women’s).

Pros

  • This is your most light weight, but also most supportive running shoe. Reason for that is the dynaflyte contains flytefoam and not Gel.

Cons

  • This shoe is more suitable for shorter distances.
  • It has been reported that the warmer the flytefoam get’s the more it ‘deflates’ meaning you feel less of the shock absorption and bounce back the longer the run goes on. I started experiencing this around 7km into a 10km race.

It is also necessary to take into consideration that every one of these shoe models bring out new and improved versions yearly. The models I have reviewed above are the most recent models that are currently being sold, and that I have personally tried and tested.

Eg. The Dynaflyte 4 (most recent model) does have gel in the rear foot which would solve the issue I had with the previous model.

Now that we have all grounds covered so that you, the consumer can make the MOST informed decision when purchasing your next running shoe. (You probably know more about the brand than the salespeople by now.)

I hope this article helped to get you to be a faster and more injury free runner! Feel free to share your suggestions, feedback and experiences in the comments below and do not hesitate to ask Carla any questions you might have about ASICS shoes.

Are Sprint Intervals Good for Fat Loss

are sprint intervals good for fat loss

I am a huge fan of Sprinting.

Sprinting has changed my life and it has really helped me to shed a lot of weight off my belly and lower body.

When I started my weight loss journey I started with light jogging and after few weeks I switched to long distance running. But I found my real love in sprinting…

Once I started doing sprints I feel like not doing long distance running at all. However I do go for long runs once occasionally.

According to research, sprinting for 20 minutes is equivalent to 60 minutes of running or jogging. This is because sprinting is a high intensity workout that involves a lot of your muscles.

More on this later…

We all know exercise is hard work. Now you do not have to use all of your energy when you are exercising. A sprint that takes only 20 minutes can change your life. Sprinting can also help to build up muscle mass, improve overall health, and allow you to live a healthier life.

You will also be able to burn off fat and you will be able to have a toned and lean body just by doing short sprints 3-4 times per week. This article will help you to understand how you can do sprints for fat loss and weight loss.

Running on a treadmill can get boring. You are indoors and facing a wall. Even with the TV on this form of exercise can get old quickly. It can lead to a decrease in motivations.

You will not want to work out any longer. This will help stop weight loss.

Sprinting is a great alternative to this workout. You can get outdoors and sprint.

You can go to parks and other places so you do not get bored. Once you see the benefits of sprinting you will want to keep up with this exercise.

You can get the same results from working out in a shorter time by sprinting.

By increasing the speed of your sprints will help you in weight loss and you will see your results very quickly.

But mind you, you will need to work hard on increasing either speed of your workouts or the distance to see maximum results.

How to Sprint as a Beginner

Sprinting for Fat Loss

This is for someone who has never tried sprinting. You may have done some running or jogging earlier but you’ve never tried sprints. Perhaps this is something you should give a try if you really want to see quick results for fat loss in your body.

As a beginner, who wants to sprint for maximum fat loss and weight loss, you should ideally aim to go for 20 minutes of sprinting for 3-4 times a week.

As your body adjusts to this workout you can increase the time. You can ideally start with 10 rounds of sprints and cover 15 to 20 meters each round.

Here is a sample sprint program for a beginner:

  1. Warm up: Five to ten minutes of stretching and warm up. You can do jumping jacks, calf raises, squats or just brisk walk for 5-10 minutes. This will activate your glutes, calf muscles and other leg muscles which is very important before you start your high intensity sprints
  2. Sprint: 15 seconds of sprinting at 70 percent of your maximum effort
  3. Recovery: Walk for 1-2 minutes
  4. Sprint: 30 seconds of sprinting at 80 percent of your maximum effort
  5. Recovery: Walk for 1-2 minutes
  6. Repeat #4 and #5 for 20 minutes.

You can follow the above sample program for 3-4 weeks before progressing to the next level. Once you are really comfortable and your body adapts to sprinting you can progress to the next level (given below):

High Intensity Sprinting for Intermediate Runners

High Intensity Sprint for Intermediate Runners

As an intermediate runner you should aim for 20 minutes of sprinting activity for 3-4 times per week to speed up fat loss.

This is a sample sprint program we recommend for intermediate Runners

  1. Warm up: Exercises to activate your glutes, calf muscles and other leg muscles. Ideally for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Jog or Walk: 5 minutes of brisk walk or light jogging
  3. Sprint: 30 seconds of sprinting at 70 percent of your maximum effort
  4. Recovery: Jog for 1-2 minutes or just do a light walk for 1-2 minutes
  5. Sprint: 30 seconds of sprinting at 80 percent of your maximum effort
  6. Recovery: Jog for 1-2 minutes or just do a light walk for 1-2 minutes
  7. Repeat #5 and #6 for 20-30 minutes.

Few points to remember while doing sprints:

  1. Always perform warm up exercises before your sprints to avoid injury or muscle strain
  2. You should ideally aim for 8-10 rounds of 30 seconds each with 60 seconds of rest between each round.
  3. Start your first sprint at a moderate pace, about 60-70 percent of your maximum effort
  4. Always cool down your body after the sprints

If you sprint regularly you will notice an increase in your metabolism. You will be able to burn fat even when you are at rest.

Sprinting is more effective than an entire night of jogging. If you do not have a lot of time but want to get into shape sprinting is a great option to speed up fat loss.

You will not have to work out for longer periods and you will be able to see the fat-burning results in no time.

How Sprinting helps in building Muscle Mass

Does Sprinting builds muscle?

Sprinting will help build up lean muscle mass. This is because sprinting requires your body to use several muscles at a time and will work out the entire body. Sprinting helps break down the proteins in the body and allowing the muscles to build and develop.

This allows the body to become leaner and look more toned. You will be able to see your body getting toned and developed over a period of time.

Your muscles will become more defined and you will have a lean but healthy look.

Using all of these different muscles group will build up the mass and will burn more calories even when you are at rest.

Sprinting Boosts Metabolism

Studies have shown that sprinting burns a lot of calories in a short amount of time.

If you do not have a lot of time to work out but want to see the results then this is an ideal exercise program for you.

Even when you are not sprinting and have stopped your workout the body will continue to be in fat-burning mode. When you are sprinting you are giving your metabolism a boost.

This will allow the body to burn calories even when you are in rest. You will see a drastic increase in your metabolism which is needed for weight loss.

All it will take is a little bit of work during the day and your body will continue to burn off fat at night.

You will be able to keep your body in the fat-burning mode even when you are not working out. This is a great way to help the body burn off additional fat and lose weight. This is the goal of exercise and you will meet it.

Sprinting improves Heart Health

How Sprinting improves heart health

Sprinting can help with more than weight loss. There are some great benefits for heart and heart health. Sprinting can help reduce blood pressure and will help build up the type II muscles which will help the heart function.

When sprinting you are putting a lot of work into getting your muscles to more.

This will allow the heart to go faster and will improve blood flow to all areas of the body. This will help strengthen the heart and will help reduce the risk of heart disease and other heart conditions.

Sprinting helps to Increase Human Growth Hormone Production

When a person is sprinting they will see an increase in the production of the human growth hormone. Sprinting will naturally increase the production of the human growth hormone in the body.

This hormone plays a big role in weight loss. It will also help slow down the aging process. You will be able to stay youthful-looking for a longer time. This hormone will help enhance tissue growth in the body allowing the skin to stay youthful-looking for longer.

Summary

Sprinting is a great exercise for the entire body. Even if you are new to sprinting and are do not have the most endurance you can still see the health benefits from sprinting. Over time your body will adjust and you will be able to work out for a longer time. Sprinting is a great workout for the entire body. You will be able to use all of your muscle groups and you will be able to burn fat.

How to tell if you have wide feet

How do I know if I have wide feet

Knowing your shoe size is important especially if you are a runner.

Essentially, knowing your foot width and its comparison to a pair of shoes is most important. Shoes come in multiple sizes: small, medium, wide, extra wide, enabling everyone fit in a size.

Identifying wide size shoes can be confusing, thanks to the terminologies used to describe the sizes for both men and women.

What is considered a wide foot for a man or woman?

If you have ever tried to fit in your perfect fit shoe lengthwise then you feel cramped on the sides, the writing on the wall is clear, you need wide width shoes.

Wide width shoes are usually normal sized shoes with a similar overall length but with an increased toe box and fore foot to give room to your wide feet. Wide feet individuals have characteristic wider toes and forefoot.

You might be tempted to ask yourself this question

Why do I have wide feet?

Feet have different shapes and sizes. One of the major causes of wide feet is genetics; it runs in your family and it was inevitable for you.

Secondly, your feet might just have broadened as you continued to age or thirdly, because of medical conditions. Edema for instance will force you to adjust your shoe size to minimize potential health effects.

Measuring shoe width sizes

How do I know if I have wide feet?

Various brands and styles use different methods to measure their shoes. Two conventions have however remained consistent to help men and women identify their sizes; letter system and the word based system.

Letter sizing

Though slim and super slim are terms common when measuring women shoes, they equally translate to narrow and extra narrow.

While a shoe fit with an ‘A’ width on a woman’s shoe is used to consider it narrow or extra narrow, the similar notation on a man’s shoe indicates that the shoe is extra narrow.

The more the ‘A’s, the narrower the shoe; for example, AAA.

‘B’ width is the standardized width for women and to men a narrow width.

The letter ‘D’ on the other hand is considered the standardized width for men while it indicates a wide fit for women.

And the letter ‘E’s increase the overall width of both women and men shoes. While a 2E on a man’s fit is considered wide, it is extra-large on women’s shoes.

However, in countries where UK sizing is followed ‘E’ tends to be similar to regular/medium in US sizing. Some brands use E, EE, EEE and in that case more Es means wider.

If you are still confused about your shoe size you can refer to this sizing guide

Word based sizing

This is the use of the terms normal, medium, wide or extra wide to define a shoe fit.

How do I know I need wide running shoes?

Why do I have wide feet

Just like tight fitting attire, running in small shoes is uncomfortable and can cause harm on your feet. With cramping of the fore feet and the wider toes, you won’t maximize your running efforts. You will also know you need wider shoes when you experience the following complications:

  • Numbness or a tingling feeling on the toes
  • Blisters on the top of or between my toes
  • Bruised toes

The conviction that my toes are not breathing well in my running shoes is an indication that it’s time to head back to the shoe store to get myself a new perfect fit shoe.

How much wider is a wide width shoe?

The standard wide fit shoe is usually 10cm in width while an extra wide shoe will measure around 11cm across your foot. While shopping for a wide width shoe fit might be a hustle, it is still necessary to make sure you wear a shoe that has about ½ space between your longest toe and the tip of your shoe.

Wide feet measurement

You will know your foot has a normal width when your foot is 3 9/16” wide and you wear a size 8 shoe. However, if you have the same measurement and wear a size 5 shoe, you definitely need to go for a wide shoe. It is preferable to measure your feet in the evening when they are on their largest.

So, how do you measure wide feet?

  • Wear fitting socks that you can go out in comfortably
  • Tape two pieces of white paper on the floor
  • Trace your foot on the paper or if possible, get someone to do it for you
  • Using a ruler, measure the width of the widest part of your foot on the traced piece
  • Record both measurements of your right and left feet
  • Deduct 1/8” from the highest recording and state it as your width
  • Take a sizing chart and check out your size based on your measurements

How will you know your shoes are of the right width?

Research has found out that approximately 70% of people wear the wrong size of footwear. Running is healthy and boosts happiness especially if you are not causing strain on your feet.

However, uncomfortable running can tamper with your gait and put pressure on your joints. You can consider these points to ensure you are wearing a perfect fit:

  • Avoid purchasing shoes based on your previous size. Measure your feet every time you want to buy shoes.
  • So as to not under estimate your foot width, measure your feet in the evening when they are at their largest.
  • Buy shoes basing on the measurements of your biggest foot. Remember one foot can be bigger than other.
  • Avoid focusing on size alone when buying shoes. Different brands and styles have varying sizes
  • Don’t buy a smaller shoe expecting it to stretch out eventually. If they don’t fit properly, move on
  • When trying on shoes, walk around to allow your feet spread under your weight.

Summary

Having a wide width foot is not a new thing. Caused by genetics, health issues, pregnancy and aging, every individual with a wide foot should not force their feet into a smaller fit.

Wearing small shoes are detrimental to your feet. Eventually, your feet will start to have a tingling feeling and numbness, or worse, you might develop unsightly sores that will affect your gait.

If you find out that all the shoes on an off-the-rack are not fitting no matter the size you try to fit, it’s time to consider wide width shoes. Avoid the glam of going for a foot wear based on the brand.

Different brands have different sizes, to get yourself a good fit for running shoes, get to a store with a savvy selection and pick one that is comfortable on your foot.
